Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) in adolescents is best treated with psychotherapy, social-skills training, vocational training, help with academics, and parent management training programs. Bootcamps do not work. Sometimes long-term residential placement is necessary to get the help needed. Especially if the adolescent has reached the point where multiple interventions have been tried without success.The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry has a helpful Guide for families of children with ODD.
